Hi there, nice to meet you! My name is Eason Xinran Wang, and I am currently a first-year MS-Human-Computer Interaction student at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, I earned my BFA degree from the Rhode Island School of Design, where I double-majored in Illustration and Film/Animation/Video. As a UX designer with a background in visual communication and design, I believe that creativity is a spontaneous yet intentional commitment to continuously seeking novel and thoughtful solutions that address real-world challenges and empower human experiences.
About Me
Thoughtful, user-centered design should be effective, intuitive, and accessible. Empathizing with users throughout the research and design process is essential to delivering solutions that truly address their needs. I believe in design's power to shape a better future and aspire to create work that celebrates diversity, equity, and inclusivity.
I value interdisciplinary collaboration as a way to foster meaningful communication and uncover innovative design opportunities. I am passionate about building a supportive and collaborative environment within every team I join.
My Approach
I have developed a personalized approach to the double diamond design framework. I believe that UX designers should be good listeners, maintaining the mindset of an apprentice when working with stakeholders to deeply understand the problem space. Throughout the process, designers should remain open-minded, embracing new possibilities and diverse perspectives.
At the same time, UX designers must be skilled at identifying crucial patterns and design goals, transforming ambiguity into feasible and effective solutions.
My Design Process
I love learning about new design software and exploring the possibilities of what people can create using cutting-edge technologies. My past experiences and studies have provided me with a toolbox that includes user experience design, graphic design, and motion design. At the same time, I am excited to continue learning. Currently, I am exploring Unity and C#, as well as D3.js, to design data visualizations in immersive environments.
My Tool Box
Knowledge is beautiful by David McCandless: How can we leverage data to tell meaningful stories that drive actionable insights and inspire positive social change? I am deeply intrigued by the intersection of data visualization and UX design, where complex information is transformed into accessible, impactful narratives that empower users and drive meaningful action.
UI is Communication by Everett N. McKay: I am currently focused on broadening my knowledge in designing interfaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also intuitive, user-friendly, and efficient in communicating important information.
